Our Impact
The AABC Foundation is building a future where everyone has access to safe, respectful, and inclusive birth care.
Our work focuses on removing barriers and lifting up leaders who are creating real, lasting change in maternity care for their communities.
We fuel the future of equitable, midwifery-led birth center care by raising funds to grow and strengthen the AABC birth center model as a national standard for safe, respectful, and evidence-based wellness care.
We drive this mission by identifying critical needs and securing resources to provide:
Scholarships

Grants
Our grant programs provide critical funding to birth centers and researchers, ensuring the sustainability and growth of the birth center model of care as well as a brighter future for perinatal care.
Fiscal Sponsorships
We offer fiscal sponsorships to emerging birth centers and related projects to accelerates their development, allowing communities to access essential maternity care services sooner.

We’ve granted over 120 scholarships
“The scholarship alleviated the financial pressures of attending a national conference and enabled me to connect with other Black and Brown midwives from around the country.”
— Tiffany Vassell, Lisa Ross Scholarship Recipient
We’ve awarded over 100 grants
“While it is a public health imperative to research normal pregnancy and birth, including equitable access to midwifery care, it can be very challenging to get funding to research something that’s not always seen as ‘a problem’. Thank you to the AABC Foundation and all of its donors. You’re helping us do very necessary work.”
— Sarah A. Sanders, MPH, Research Grant Recipient
We’ve fiscally sponsored 8 birth centers
“When our former birth center closed in, our community was devastated. For the first time in over 40 years, we no longer had the choice of birthing in a free-standing birth center. I’m so grateful for the support that the AABCF has given to Our Community Birth Center and I’m thankful that we’re well on our way to restore birth center services.”
— Lynn Kane, Client of Our Community Birth Center
